PROPERTY DEVELOPMENTS
Te Waka Unua School is lucky to have redeveloped the entire school site with the rebuilding of the majority of our classroom spaces. Over the current school holidays there has been major work on landscaping and upgrading the grounds.
NEW PLAYGROUND
Our new playground has been in use since last year.
2019 will see a new basketball/netball court, more basketball hoops, an extensive scooter track and new gardens, etc.
LANDSCAPING PLAN
We have just received the Landscaping Plan. Stage 1, the area in front of the Pīwakawaka classrooms will hopefully be completed before school restarts in 2017.


STAGE 2 CONSTRUCTION BEGINS
The Hon. Minister Hekia Parata visited Te Waka Unua on October 20th to officially turn the first sod to mark the start of Stage 2 of our build - a new 8-class learning space and

The foundations have begun to take shape.

STAGE 1 - The extension and redevelopment of the Weka teaching block is now open. The building was blessed on Monday, October 10th by Justin Tipa (Ngāi Tahu) and is now being enjoyed by our tamariki and their kaiako.
This extension adds the equivalent of 3 teaching spaces and reconfigures the existing space to include a toilet block that is accessible from within the building and from the exterior off the new decking area to the west.
The new Weka space is now in use.

DEMOLITION - STAGE 2
Demolition has now been completed on the old buildings along the southern boundary.
